The Arts

Although Warner Robins is a young city, there are many cultural opportunities for all ages to enjoy.

The Warner Robins Little Theatre produces four stage shows and a summer musical each year. The Children’s Theatre puts on three children’s plays every year, including a summer production geared towards entertaining day-care centers and the like.

The Warner Robins Art Association is dedicated to promoting arts and crafts in the local area. Meetings are held the second Monday of every month and feature guest artists and craftsmen. These fees help fund a $1,000 scholarship given annually to an area student. In addition to sponsoring a spring and fall show at Houston Mall, a special Christmas Bazaar and a children’s art show complete with prize ribbons, the members donate books to the library. The Association co-sponsors the Regional Youth Fair every September. They also work as volunteers with children and the elderly.

The Department of Recreation regularly provides various classes in ceramics, art, dancing and other forms of self-expression. The Chamber of Commerce sponsors the Santa Claus parade during the Christmas season. Regular horse shows and dog shows are conducted each year in Warner Robins. There are also periodic antique, boat, coin, car and flower shows held in the city.

The International City Festival is held every spring and features lively events, international cuisine, name entertainment, arts and crafts, photo exhibits and more. The festival finale is a beautiful fireworks display.

The Mossy Creek Barnyard Arts and Crafts Festival is held in both April and October and is attended by thousands of visitors in a rustic setting. Entertainment ranges from clogging and gospel singing to witnessing handcrafts. photography exhibits and other art forms.

A Day at the Park

With Warner Robins wonderful climate, visitors and residents are bound to plan a day at the park. The Warner Robins Recreation Department maintains a number of beautiful parks throughout the city for your enjoyment.

The Alex Ferguson Park is on Elberta Road. It’s facilities include an activity building, concession area, a playground, a basketball court, baseball and practice fields, restrooms and a picnic area.

Briarcliff Park on Briarcliff Road has a playground, picnic area, basketball court and practice field.

Located on Kimberly Road, the D.L. Fountain Park includes a softball field, basketball court, playground, walking trail, swimming pool, tennis court, restrooms, picnic area and picnic shelters.

Heritage Park on Scott Blvd. offers a playground, picnic area and basketball court.

The Jessie E. Tanner, Jr. Park is located behind the county annex on Carl Vinson Parkway. It’s facilities include lighted tennis courts, a playground, a picnic area, multi-purpose ball fields, volleyball and basketball courts, a concession stand, horseshoe pits, a nature trail and restrooms.

Memorial Park is located on South First Street and includes a basketball court, playground, picnic area, picnic pavilion, volleyball court, softball fields and restrooms.

Peavy Park, on Johnson Road, has softball fields, tennis courts, a playground, picnic area and pavilion, picnic shelters and restroom.

Perkins Park has a playground, picnic area, picnic pavilion, basketball court, volleyball court, baseball fields, tennis courts and restrooms. It is located on Mulberry Street.

Sewell Park is located on Wallace Drive. It’s facilities include an activity building, basketball courts, a softball field, swimming pool, playground, picnic area and shelter, and restrooms.

The Ted Wright Park, located on Moody Road in Bonaire, has tennis courts, a playground, an activity building with kitchen, baseball fields, volleyball and basketball courts, a picnic area and shelter, horseshoe pits, restrooms and a concession stand.

Besides the Recreation Department facilities, Warner Robins is home to many other recreational outlets such as bowling facilities, a skating rink, and several theaters.

Recreation Facilities

An abundance of recreational facilities can be found in and around Warner Robins. The citizens of Middle Georgia are fortunate to have a year-round climate conducive to outdoor activity. Sportsmen flock to the fields and streams for hunting and fishing expeditions. Hunters pursue deer, turkey, quail, dove, rabbit and squirrels. The big game fish is the large mouth bass.

The Warner Robins Recreation Department is located adjacent to the city government complex at 800 Watson Blvd. It houses administrative offices, an activity room, youth center, ceramic shop & gymnasium.

Golf Courses

The Houston Lake Country Club has a challenging 18-hole course. This is a semi-private club which is located between Perry and Warner Robins. It also provides a swimming pool, tennis courts, access to the lake for boating, and golf instruction or tennis lessons by pros. Call (478) 987-3243.

Nestled in one of Warner Robin’s finest real estate developments you’ll find The Landings Golf Club. This is a premier 27-hole golf facility and has been chosen as one of Georgia’s Top 50 Golf Courses since opening in 1987. This semi-private, first-class facility also offers four new tennis courts, a swimming pool, large practice area, restaurant, lounge, locker rooms with showers, full club repair center and the largest stocked pro shop in the area. The International City Municipal Golf Course offers an 18-hole course complete with all the amenities, including a pro-shop, driving range and putting green.

Ironwoods Family Golf Center is located between Warner Robins & Macon and is a professional practice facility with a driving range & auto tee-up system. It has 60 teeing stations that are illuminated for night golf as well as a Pro Line golf shop. Bring the family & enjoy miniature golf, a video arcade & snack bar. Open ‘til midnight!
