Economy

The Greater Warner Robins area Chamber of Commerce works hand-in-hand with the Houston County Development Authority and, as a direct result, the economic picture remains dynamic.

Needless to say, the economic impact of Robins Air Force Base is stupendous. Here are just a few statistics:

4,613 military personnel
12,409 civilian personnel
45,781 ripple effect jobs in the Middle Georgia area
$2.1 billion economic impact annually

A 35,000 square-foot Middle Georgia Technology Development Center (MGTDC) building, owned by the City of Warner Robins, operates in Houston County’s advanced technology park. The building houses the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC), Macon College, the Houston County Development Center, the Small Business Development Center and ATDC’s incubator companies. ATDC has one basic purpose: to help create jobs in industries and businesses and high-tech areas in the mid-state and the state of Georgia. It was created in 1980 by the governor and the Georgia General Assembly. It is one of the nation’s first technology development groups and has become one of the country’s most respected centers, attracting national and world-wide attention.

When you look at the total economic picture, Warner Robins is booming. It also continues to be a vital center for healthcare, shopping and service-oriented firms. The bottom line is a well-balanced economic profile, driven significantly by the impact of Robins Air Force Base.
